2020 UP Showcase Evaluations 2023s

Uncovered Prospects 2020 showcase evaluations for the 2023 class in no particular order.

2023 5’7 G Erin Henry is a complete monster in the boards. She is tough, quick, and knows how to handle pressure. She can defend multiple positions on the floor, and finishes very well around the rim. An Improvement for Erin would be her ball handling. She has gotten much better, but still needs a little work. 

2023 5’7 G Morgan McDermott is a ball player. She can shoot very well, handle the ball, and plays well under pressure. Morgan demonstrated that she has a ton of confidence, she took shots that many would be scared to take. Morgan has a pretty high IQ, and can defend. Morgan will need to continue to become stronger. This will help her be able to attack the rim better. 

2023 5’10 G Brianna Hill showed us a little of everything. She can defend multiple positions, shoot very well, and can handle the ball under pressure. Brianna knows how to create her own shots, and moves well without the ball. Brianna defends at a high level. She is an elite player with lots of room to grow. Brianna needs to continue to work on her counter moves against defenders, this will only make her an even better player. 

2023 5’5 PG Sade Rodriguez is quick and confident. Sade will attack the rim and get to the line every time if she could. She has the ability to knock down shots, and can really pass. Sade is a good defender and has a high IQ. One thing Sade can work on is becoming more efficient with her shots. 

2023 5’6 PG Azyah Newson-Cole had a really good showing at the showcase. She portrayed an ability to score in a variety of ways. She attacked the basket relentlessly, made the right pass off the bounce and showed a nice pull-up jump shot. Her defense was on display as she played tenacious lockdown defense on the ball and got some steals while playing aggressively in the passing lane. Would like to see her expand her range and knock down the three more consistently and her offensive game will soar!

2023 5’9 G Natasha Barnes impressed during the showcase. She was one of the better shooters and showed it throughout the games. She shot the ball well beyond the three point line and also made plays driving to the basket. She used her size well defensively and to rebound. She ran the floor well in transition and finished at the rim. Would like to see her increase her ball handling so she’s able to make plays going both ways and also impact the game defensively off the ball.

2023 6’0 F Hailey Hillman showed why she has a lot of potential at the showcase. She has good size and length and used it defensively to rebound and block shots. She ran the floor well and finished with both hands. She also had a decent midrange jumper. Would like to see her post more and gain a couple post moves, as well as better her ball handling skills so she can make plays for herself.

2023 5’6 G Aaliyah Frazier impacted at the showcase on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she attacked hard off the dribble and was able to hit the midrange. She also showed the ability to stretch the floor. Frazier made her mark defensively by constant pressure on whoever she guarded. She gave max effort and played with high energy. Would like to see her improve her ball handling and ability to go both ways. Also, deepen her range with her jump shot.

2023 5’9 G Isabella Kedryna played very well during the showcase. She displayed a very nice handle and made plays going both ways off the bounce. She also can shoot it from all three levels and does it efficiently. She has good length and uses it well on the defensive end. With her long arms, she played the passing lanes well and rebounded also. Would love to see her play more pressure defense when guarding and also be aggressive on offense with her ball handling ability.

2023 5’9 G AJ Murphy is an athletic guard that has the ability to be an all around player. She showed that she can handle the ball, has an improving shot and can also defend multiple positions. Good quickness when getting up the floor. Would like to see her expand her shooting range and continue to better her ball handling.

2023 5’8 G Jasmine Brown showed that she’s a big guard that scores on all 3 levels, is an elite passer and plays with a high IQ. She can play multiple positions in the back court at a high level and will be a problem for defenders for years to come. Would love to see her continue to enhance her ball handling and pressure more on defense, especially in the full court.

2023 6’1 F Ayanna Jackson showed why her length, skill set and athleticism sets her apart from many in her class. She was able to put the ball on the floor to get to the rim in traffic, shoot the open mid range and three point shot. She rebounded both sides of the ball and guarded the perimeter and post well. Jackson also did a good job  altering and blocking shots. Would like see Ayanna take advantage of more mismatch opportunities.

2023 5’8 G/F Aspen Weeks showed that she’s a physically strong wing that rebounds, shoots the ball and gets to the rim to finish. With her ability to play from different areas of the court, Aspen caused some match-up problems for defenders. Would like to see her use her left hand more frequently, as well as increase her foot speed to be able to guard on the perimeter.

2023 5’9 G/F Apple Guerrero showed that she is deceptively quick and can shoot the ball from all 3 levels. She also showed that she can create her own shot, as well as shots for others. She’s a good defender both on and off the ball. Would like to se her be more aggressive offensively.

2023 5’4 G Aniya Davis competed well at the showcase. She played with max effort on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she was able to bring the ball up the floor and facilitate the offense for her team. Defensively, she was active and aggressive throughout. Would like to see her expand her shooting range and also sure up her ball handling to give her more options on offense.
