JAN. 27TH, 2020 PROSPECT SPOTLIGHT
ALYSSA LATHAM
HOMEWOOD FLOSSMOOR (IL)
2023 6’0 G/F Alyssa Latham has been a huge piece to an already successful Homewood Flossmoor (IL) girls basketball team. In her first year of high school ball, Latham has made her mark on a team that has a real chance of making it downstate and competing for a state championship. She doesn’t say much during games but let’s her play do the talking. Her size and length is a major asset for her on both ends of the floor. Defensively, Latham has the ability to guard all 5 positions. She does an excellent job blocking and altering shots on the perimeter, as well as in the paint. She also plays the passing lanes well and her ability to deflect passes allows her to get steals and get out in transition for easy baskets. Alyssa rebounds the ball well and can also push the ball up the floor starting fast break opportunities for her team. Offensively, she has a nice touch around the basket and also showcases a midrange shot that’s been effective for her in her first year. Latham does a great job finishing plays at the basket, using both hands when given the opportunity. She also creates easier points for herself when she goes into the post. As she continues to increase her depth with her jump shot, Latham will continue to be a high riser in the 2023 class. She will receive tons of D1 interest and offers.
